What to Do If In a Car Crash

Car CrashIf you experience a car crash, take deep breaths and stay calm, then you will be able to do the following.

 

Never Run Away

Stay at the accident scene, in case of serious injuries or death of the other person you can get involved in criminal punishment for being a hit and run motorist.

Check for Injuries

Check yourself on all the areas for the injuries and then check the other persons involved in the accident. If there is any serious case, call for the ambulance or if somebody needs an immediate help, provide first aid.

Help Yourself

If you are injured, use mobile and call 911. Tell them your condition and location. Explain to them what you need, fire engine or ambulance. Remain on the hold until you get a positive response.

Collect Information

Collect the complete information from the accident scene. Show the other driver yours and check out his/her driving license and car registrations, then note down the ensuing data:

 

  • Title of the car driver
  • Address
  • Age
  • Contact no
  • Driving license number and date of expiry
  • Name of insurance company

 

After that note down:

 

  • Car’s make, year and model
  • License plate number and expiry date
  • Vehicle identification number
  • In case the driver does not own the car, jot down the name, address, contact number and name of insurance company of the registered owner.
  • Also note down the names, home addresses, ages, contact numbers and driver’s license numbers of any other passenger in the other car and any witness on the scene.
  • Ask the witnesses to stay on the scene to tell CHP or police about the details of the accident scene, if they want to leave, request them to tell you about the details and then you note them down.
  • Ask the police officer from where you can get the copy of accident report and when.
  • Take pictures of the accident scene with your mobile.

 

Do Not Take the Responsibility

Do not take the responsibility of the accident by taking all the blame, first talk to your lawyer and insurance company and remain factual in your details.

Physical Checkup

Get the physical checkup of you and all the passengers in the vehicle after the accident.
